Over the bar we have all the brand leaders as well as a range of Continental Beers and Guest Ales and we are one of the few remaining pubs in Coventry that serve traditional ales from hand pulled pumps.

Hired a table for a wake and staff went above and beyond. Set us up with the full conservatory at the front of the building, giving a good and private atmosphere. Provided tea and coffee on arrival and a fire pit in the room. Food was delicious, catering for all dietary needs. Couldn't have asked for better service. Many thanks from us all.

Didn’t have food but is a meeting place with a load of old school mates over 40yrs on from when we all met. It’s a regular for a few of the lads and has a great atmosphere and some good craft beers and ciders. I’ve heard that the food is really good too

We visited the Millpool on Sunday and the food was faultless, there was a great atmosphere and lots of customers were really enjoying their time. The staff were friendly but my only criticism is that they all seemed very frazzled and didn’t seem to know how the place operated, when asking for condiments the waiter disappeared and don’t come backs and they were unsure what to do when I asked if we order food at the bar or the table. In the end we managed to order drinks at the table but were then asked to order food at the bar…

I have been to the millpool once previously in my time living in Coventry and I can honestly say that this place has been turned around so well since my last visit.
This place has been given a new lease of life since my previous visit which was well over 12 years ago.

Unfortunately, despite my rating of great food, service and atmosphere, I have one very large complaint to address in which I feel the management team should take very seriously.

Today I attended a ceremony in remembrance of my Dad who sadly died of pancreatic cancer a little over a year ago.
The ceremony took place at the university hospital who battled to cure my Dad of this awful disease.
After the ceremony, we decided to choose the millpool pub as a place to raise a glass in his memory, in a dual purpose as today would also of been his 70th birthday.
We all turned up as a family, wearing our purple T-shirts in support and to spread awareness of pancreatic cancer.

Before choosing this as our place of celebration, we googled the pubs acceptance of dogs on the premises and as google stated, dogs are welcome in the outside areas and the bar but excluded from the dining areas.
Following the guidelines advertised online, we brought our dog with us to raise a glass to my Dad on our way back to our relocated home of Ipswich.
Sadly, just after the arrival of our food to pod number 5, a short blonde haired female member of staff appeared with a screwed up face, telling us that our dog was not welcome on the property.
I told the member of staff that we had read online that dogs were welcome in the outside spaces and that we were even keeping our dog outside of the pod.
She continued to persist that our dog was not welcome at all.
With acceptance in this, I put my dog into the car and announced to my family that we would be leaving soon as my well behaved pooch was no longer welcome.
Moments later, the same short, blonde haired woman appeared with her disgruntled face to ask how many people we had in the pod.

I had clearly outstayed my welcome at this point according to this vile member of staff.

I decided this time around, to express to this woman that she clearly wasn’t in the best of moods to be dealing with customers.
She told me that she was just the messenger and that the landlord was the one barking the orders.
Unfortunately, I neglected to ask her to bring me the landlord so that I could challenge these petty decisions that she was enforcing on their behalf.

It clearly states on google that dogs are welcome in outside spaces and also the bar area. This place is truly very pleasant and I wish not to discourage anyone from attending at all.
But one thing I would suggest for the landlord, is that the bulldog chewing a wasp should not be allowed near customers as dogs are not allowed on the premises.

Horrible blonde short staff member should not work in hospitality. Rude and made to feel like we weren’t wanted there. Everyone else was so polite and friendly. The food was good, the atmosphere was good. We were talking about booking to go back for one of their deals but unless this woman goes back under the bridge where she belongs I’d rather get a takeaway. One person has ruined my experience there when everything else was so nice.

We visited the pub after attending a memorial service at the hospital for my dad, who sadly passed away and would have been celebrating his 70th birthday that day. We wanted somewhere comfortable to gather as a family and raise a glass in his honour.

Before visiting, we checked the website which stated that dogs are allowed outside, so my brother brought his dog along and kept her outside one of the pods. However, a very miserable and unwelcoming member of staff came over and abruptly told him the dog wasn’t allowed there. When my brother questioned this, explaining what we had read online, there was no understanding or compassion — especially considering the circumstances.

To avoid any conflict, my brother put his dog straight in the car. We tried to settle back into the afternoon, only for the same staff member to return moments later, questioning how many people we had in the pod. It felt unnecessary and as though she was simply trying to find a reason to cause further issues.

The behaviour completely spoiled what should have been a meaningful and emotional time for our family. It was a day to celebrate and remember our dad — instead we were made to feel like an inconvenience. A little kindness and empathy would have gone a very long way.

We in the area and called in for lunch on a Friday afternoon without a booking. Plenty of tables available, even though it was quite busy. Wide choice of reasonably priced food, which is served in generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpul, food came quite quickly.

The millpool is my boyfriends local so we are always there and is never much far off brilliant. Lovely pub and delicious cocktails but what got me to write this review was the actions of one of the servers. Harry from the millpool is an absolute asset to the team, going above and beyond for customers. We were in a few hours ago having some cocktails and his friendly personality made us feel so welcomed from the get go. We enquired about room hire and he was open and honest and so knowledgeable throughout, he told us that as soon as the people were finished having their party in the back room, we could have a look inside. Then as soon as he saw me taking a peak he came over to give me all the insider tips and tricks for setting the room up, it was almost closing and he took me out the back, even unlocking the doors for me to show me the gazebos and outdoor seating. We visualised how the party was going to look and he came up with some great ideas. Overall he delivered excellent service all night and we were very happy to have him as our server 🙂

We visited the Millpool all over the summer months for drinks outside and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in a brilliant atmosphere, with great staff and clientele.
It is so warm and friendly and above all a great family atmosphere.
We also visited the pods for food on Thursday night. I cannot recommend the pods enough, it is a great way to dine with friends in the summer or winter as they are heated too !! Didn’t need the heat on a nice summers evening though !!
The Thursday night steak night is absolutely brilliant !! The steak was delicious and the deal for 2 with a bottle of wine was unbeatable.
We will be going on more Thursday’s for sure.
The Millpool is 100% recommended, you can really tell the staff, right from the top to the bottom really care and it shows.
5 stars, if I could give 6 stars I would.

From the moment we walked through the door we was made to feel like an inconvenience. We asked if we should seat ourselves which was met with “well it will have to be over there because we’re full over here”
Waited well over half an hour after getting some drinks, so had to ask if we could order our food, had to ask about reordering drinks also as was never revisited after. as it was becoming apparent we’d be forgotten about as tables around us were now eating.
Spent a total of over 2 and a half hours in the restaurant which felt absolutely unnecessary for 2 people dining. Food was okay. Service was horrific. Staff were just not pleasant at all. Looked to be overwhelmed with a funeral service they were accommodating. But Almost felt like it was our fault they were over worked. Won’t be returning.

I ordered chunky chips and cheese garlic bread, but unfortunately both were disappointing and felt low in quality. I ended up eating it because I was hungry, but it’s not something I’d choose again. I wouldn’t recommend this place for the food.
That said, the atmosphere is nice and the beer garden is a pleasant spot to sit.

First time visiting recently. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was served quickly and was delicious. Price was very reasonable for 2 mains, 2 sides, a starter, garlic bread and 2 drinks (£41) and accessibility for my partner in a wheelchair was brilliant. Would definitely visit again.

A very good local pub with great food. Ive been bringing family and clients here for years. Don't let them sit you in a pod or you'll be forgotten about! Food came out really quick but no follow on service. Had to go back to the bar for drinks, desert menus, pay the bill etc. Its a shame as otherwise its a good place.

Driving past to Coventry hospital and saw the pub so dropped in, surprisingly they managed to find us a table on a very busy Sunday lunchtime. All staff very friendly and efficiently serving a large Sunday lunch service. All roasts were great, really tasty and well prepared and the Twix ice cream sundaes were lush.
Will definitely call again if passing and you should too, you won't be disappointed.
This pub has what many are missing nowadays - a visible, friendly, involved and caring landlord who works hard for and appreciates his customers, whether locals or one off.

On our way to visit in Coventry hospital so stopped for lunch, hadn’t booked, it looked really busy as it’s Sunday, but the very friendly manager found us a table in no time, Lovely young man took our drinks order & by the time I came back from the ladies, they were on the table. I had roast beef, husband had 1/2 chicken, mum had turkey, all absolutely delicious with lots of fresh veggies. Very quick & hot! Found a bit of room for an ice cream sundae. Made to feel very welcome & would definitely recommend for the food & the staff. The manager (John) took the time & trouble to ask if we’d enjoyed it & hoped to see us again, which is very likely as dad is in hospital so regular visits.

I visited the Millpool today as I needed to host an informal and impartial meeting for attendees and decided to book a “POD”. Previously I thought the on-site PODS were primarily used for diners and general guests, but I personally found they were a great location to hold small business meetings that allowed open discussion in surroundings that is not only well decorated and comfortable but also offered privacy. As a welcome addition to the location there was WI-FI, heating and power sockets available so laptops etc could be used. The staff were accommodating in our food and refreshment requests which only added to our experience as these were brought out to the POD and did not require attendees to venture to the bar area for purchases and ultimately disrupt the meeting time scales / agenda.
In addition to the PODS I noticed there were other areas within the premise that could host larger meetings so will definitely considered this in the future for lager number of attendees.
Many thanks again to the staff …a great experience in a relaxed environment

Great place great food but terrible service had to wait no acknowledgment for waiting no smiles, no welcome, bar man ensuring his curly hair was more important than anything to do with any of the customers, after a long day to be treated to a hello, goodbye and a friendly smile makes the world a brighter place for everyone me thinks. No good byes either and two items ordered never came so had to chase a refund too. I’m sure a could try much much harder is in order for this otherwise what could be an outstanding place to visit. Sorry not sorry.

Had a wonderful Steak and Ale pie last Wednesday. Washed down with a couple of pints of Tiger Ale it was the best way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Pre ordered the vegan Wellington tart which was supposed to come with boiled potatoes, but it came with a baked potato. No problem but it came with butter (not vegan). I asked the serving staff if they had margarine but she abruptly said 'no that's all we've got".

I don't think we've ever had less than a hundred per cent positive experience at the Millpool.

EDIT. I don't get how The Millpool gets an average rating of 4.3! I don't think we've ever had reason to complain about the cooking. When they have been busy they have been slower but not inordinately and certainly not long enough to complain about or bring their attention to.

We hired the back room for a wake. I've been several times before and wanted good food and beer. We were not disappointed as the buffet was excellent, and the beers were equally as good. Beer prices are not cheap, but I'd much rather pay more at the pump than pay the next day with a hangover.

Went with family to celebrate a birthday and had pre booked the lily pods at the millpond pub for our first afternoon tea.
The first impression was wow inside the pod was spacious with benches either side tables set up lovely had Christmas decorations hanging on the ceiling also had coat hooks either side of inside by the doors as you walked also provided blankets and there was a heater and background music it really felt very welcoming cosy comfortable and private and just being able to talk in your group of people .
The manager made you feel really welcome and made sure you had everything you needed .the food itself was amazing there was 5 of us and there was a single one and 2 double one with different varieties of sandwiches and pork pies scotch eggs and sausages rolls and light cakes and biscuits and massive pot of tea and coffee ☕ serving staff were fantastic on hand if you required anything nothing was to much trouble no long waiting food and drinks.
Very impressed will definitely be coming back for other lily pods on offer.
Overall 10/10 I would recommend anyone to try here your be surprised like we were.

Came for Sunday dinner - highly recommend the veggie wellington! We also had pie and chips and fish and chips which were also tasty! Puddings were good too. Friendly staff, good food and atmosphere.

Living in Coventry been passed the millpool many times but I've never been in it but I got invited to a free meal there by a friend of mine had the steak and tiger pie never had a pie with so much meat in it was gorgeous overhaul a great night

Family visit 5 adults 2 kids visited on a Saturday for lunch. Spent about £120 on food and drink. Food was good the service was good and the price was fair for the food and service. I would recommend this place for food and drink just expect to pay prices to match.

Food nice but the service was so slow. Constantly waiting to be able to order a drink or dessert s so we decided to only have a main and skip the dessert cause we had waited over 30 mins just to order after constantly asking for someone to serve us. We just got thr bill cause didnt want to wait any longer. Won't be returning very poor service

It's a really nice local pub. Unfortunately, the prices do not reflect that it is a local pub. Of planning to spend an evebing here you'll need deep pockets due to the costs of drinks. A round of 3 drinks cost over £20, which is scandalous.

The food was very good.
The drink was not so nice I had Pepsi or coke. Did not taste right. But it's not too bad. Overall.

I definitely recommend The Millpool
I am hard to please, and this pub over all 5*.

Just had a lunch with a friend at the mill pool we were lucky enough to try out one of the new pods! The pods are cosy and beautiful…food great value for money all came out hot and good portion sizes! Service was super the staff couldn’t do enough for us! Huge thankyou and we will be visiting again

Had a baby shower yesterday with 15 guests and the whole team were very helpful. We were able to decorate the room fully and the buffet food was plentiful, delicious and on time. We had a lovely afternoon, fantastic service and at a fantastic price. Thanks John and team for a perfect event.
